2011 Expeditions Dates:
Expeditions in 2011 will commence from Quito into the Amazon on the 20th June. They will then occur every 2 weeks from the 4th July until October 30.
From these start dates you can participate for 2, or 4, or 8 weeks.

Costs
Project Contribution to support project
2 Weeks - US $1675 contribution + $450 local payment for Amazon charter flights and transfers
4 Weeks - US $2415 contribution + $450 local payment for Amazon charter flights and transfers
8 Weeks - US $3535 contribution+ $450 local payment for Amazon charter flights and transfers
Fundraising
For those who are interested we will provide a fundraising pack and suggestions to provide assistance with fundraising. Being a not-for-profit organisation, direct fundraising assistance can be arranged, with personal help every step of the way. Please contact Earth Sessions for further information on how we can help you fundraise for your expedition and for the communities we work with.
The costs for the expedition includes:
Amazon Flights - We charter 3, 5, or 9 seater planes for the 200km flight into and out of the Expedition location, and this is indicated in the local flight contribution.
• A financial contribution to our Project Partners in Ecuador, which will continue our efforts to support their goal of making a living from the forest, and preserving it at the same time. Over 70% of your contribution is spent in Ecuador, with much of it going to the community to run the expedition.
• All food and drink from the expedition start date
• Accommodation costs from the expedition start date, including at El Colibri Hostal in Puyo and at the Earth Sessions / Huasuali Project purpose built cabin overlooking the Rio Curaray.
• 24-hour emergency contact for friends and family
• Emergency Communication - Satellite Phone and Emergency Procedures
• First Aid Training, First Aid Kit and Staff trained in First Aid.

Trip Highlights
• Mountain bike down Cotopxi, the world’s highest active volcano
• Seeing the Amazon from the air on your way to a remote jungle airstrip
• Piranha fishing and cooking, with the help of the Amazon community, then sleep under the cover of Palm Forests on the shore of an Oxbow lake.
• Dugout Canoe trips, offering the chance to see Black Caiman, prehistoric Hwatsin Birds, Pink River Dolphins and even an elusive Anaconda – up to 20ft long!
• Wildlife research activities that provide opportunities to glimpse Spider Monkeys, Tapir, Macaws, Toucans, Harpy Eagles and other iconic Amazon species with your own eyes!
• Setting up and checking ‘camera traps’ to provide wildlife recordings deep in the jungle. Previous recordings have captured Jaguar, Puma, Ocelot, Tapir, Brocket Deer and Short Eared Rainforest Dogs.
• Remote jungle camping; sleep in jungle hammocks and learn how to make shelter and a campfire in the wet.
• Community projects; construction and maintenance, English teaching, artesan workshops

Internships available
During each Expedition, we will be choosing internships for those keen to be involved for a longer period of time, to act as support staff. Simply let us know in your application and we will discuss the options with you.
Special dates and costs for expeditions can be arranged for groups such as University Expedition societies and other pre-arranged groups.

• We will contact you to confirm your interest and speak to you further about the expedition and any questions you may have.
• Pay your deposit when you have decided to participate.
• Once we've received your deposit we’ll send you your ‘Expedition Travel Pack’ with information on travel arrangements, visas, vaccinations, what to bring, how to prepare, and other info about the location and expedition.
• We’ll also put you in contact with previous visitors to Pavacachi who will be able to give you more insight into what to do for your expedition!
