 Amazon Wildlife Photography Expeditions
Pavacachi is a remote, undisturbed area of the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest, and as such is host to a fantastic array of wildlife.  From the iconic species such as the blue and yellow macaws and howler monkeys to giant anaconda and the most bizarre insects you are ever likely to see, it's all there, which makes this an ideal location for wildlife photography.

Graham Bailey Photography

As part of the Remote Amazon Expedition we are offering an option to concentrate on Wildlife Photography while in Pavacachi.  You would still be involved in the other elements of the expedition but would devote a significant proportion of time solely to wildlife photography. This part of the expedition will be led by Graham Bailey, a biologist and wildlife photographer who was a semi-finalist in the prestigious BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition in 2007, with images from Pavacachi.

Having spent four months in Pavacachi, Graham knows the location and the wildlife well, the and with the local guides, will lead you to the best locations to capture wildlife images.

Depending on your knowledge and experience, technical advice will be given, including an 'Introduction to Wildlife Photography' program. The photographers will work together capturing images in the forest, review images daily back at camp, and critique each other's photos to ensure success with the images.

Camera Trapping

Four camera traps have been bought to commence a program to photograph the more elusive and nocturnal mammals present at Pavacachi. Evidence such as community sightings, tracks and scats are well documented of jaguar, puma, ocelot, tapir and other large mammals, but are rarely seen for more than a glance. Our program will document the well visited areas such as salt and clay licks and remote forest paths where the wildlife is completely undisturbed.

Community Assistance

All images will be owned by the photographers, and with permission will provide essential media for use by the Pavacachi Community and Earth Sessions, to attract more volunteers and eco-tourists to the area, thus generating an income that will allow them to continue to preserve the rainforest.

A limited number of places on the expeditions will be allocated for involvement in the Wildlife Photography Expedition.
